Register to Bid
Can anyone attend the auction?
Yes, all auctions are free and open to the public.

How do I register for the auction?
You must fill out a bidder registration form and present it with a Government-issued photo ID. You will then receive a bidder number and sale catalog and be able to participate in the auction.

Bid Deposit
What kind of deposit is required?
Auction purchases of $10,000 or less require payment in full on the day of sale. Once purchases reach $10,000, an immediate deposit of $10,000 is required. Purchases of more than $10,000 require a $10,000 deposit on day of sale with final payment within the next two business days by 4:00PM local time.

We accept cash, cashier's checks (payable to U.S. Treasury/URS Federal Services Inc.), and the following credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. Debit cards are not accepted. Personal or business checks, certified checks, bank letters, or letters of credit are not accepted.

Attend Preview
Can I see the property before bidding on it?
Public previews are established on specific dates and times prior to the sale date to allow prospective bidders to preview/inspect the property being offered in a given sale. Absolutely no access to property is allowed without prior URS Federal Services Inc. approval. Bidders are urged to view or inspect property prior to bidding. Failure to view or inspect property shall not constitute cause for cancellation of sale. URS Federal Services, Inc. may at its discretion provide photographs, slides or video presentation during the sale as a courtesy to its bidders. These presentations are reminders only. Bidders are warned against bidding on the basis of a photograph. Buyers should also inspect property prior to receiving items after purchase. Buyers are responsible to ascertain the accuracy of what they are acknowledging receipt of prior to removal.

Why should I inspect the property before bidding on it?
These previews are for the bidders’ benefit. URS Federal Services, Inc. provides brief descriptions of the property offered for sale. This description is to inform bidders of items available for sale and to give bidders enough information to determine if they are interested in inspecting the property. Bidders are cautioned that all weights, measurements, descriptions and export status listed online or in a catalog must be considered approximations and do not create any warranty that the property actually conforms to such descriptions. Again, failure to view or inspect property shall not constitute cause for cancellation of sale.

What is the condition of the property?
The property offered for sale varies from new to salvage. The Department of the Treasury and URS Federal Services, Inc. make no warranties or guarantees, written, expressed, or implied as to quality, quantity, condition, usability, salability, weight, measure, year, make, model, mechanical condition, performance, or other specifications. Bidders must view or inspect all property they are interested in to obtain firsthand knowledge about those items. Bidders are responsible to obtain these details during the inspection times listed in published advertising or online.

When can I inspect the property?
Bidders should inspect property before bidding. The public is allowed to inspect the property, or representative samples, at times scheduled by URS Federal Services, Inc. Absolutely no access to property is allowed without prior URS Federal Services, Inc. approval. Buyers should also inspect property prior to receiving items after purchase. Buyers are responsible to ascertain the accuracy of what they are acknowledging receipt of prior to removal.

Export Only Property
What is "export only" property?
Property sold for "export only" cannot be entered into the commerce of the United States. Without exception, "export only" property must exit the country and cannot be registered, used, or sold again in the United States. Buyers unfamiliar with the export process are cautioned against bidding on “export only” property until they have familiarized themselves with the export process.

Is it possible to get a representative sample?
Representative samples of "export only" property are available after payment in full. Buyer acknowledges that samples are required for resale in foreign markets only. Buyer must ensure that samples are promptly exported and not returned to the United States commerce system.

How do I go about exporting property?
Buyers are strongly encouraged to investigate export options prior to purchasing "export only" property. It is recommended that purchasers engage the services of a Customs broker or bonded carrier if they are unfamiliar with export requirements. URS Federal Services, Inc. cannot and does not provide any assistance whatsoever. All purchasers are responsible for complying with all applicable Federal licensing and permit regulations prior to exportation. URS Federal Services, Inc. does not warrant the availability of such licensor permits, or provide a list of the requirements that must be met. The failure of the purchaser to obtain necessary licensing will not result in the return of any monies tendered for the goods.

All forms required for exportation may be obtained at a nominal cost from the local CBP office.

How long do I have to export my purchase?
Forfeited seized property must be physically removed from the United States within 60 days of the date of sale.

How do I remove "export only" cars?
For export only cars, they will only be release to a bonded courier with a completed 7512 form which shows details of the export (port, shipping info, destination, etc). Car will go directly from the storage vendor to the port, no exceptions.

Place a Bid
What is a minimum bid? What is a reserve?
A minimum bid, sometimes called a reserve, is the minimum amount acceptable for a bid, set by the seizing agency offering the property for sale. Each lot has a reserve, but the amount will NOT be disclosed to the public. If the reserve amount is not met, the property will not be sold and the auctioneer will announce, "Reserve not met." DO NOT attempt to negotiate a bid with auction staff. During the auction, the auctioneer may give bidders a chance to bid higher to meet the reserve, so listen carefully. Occasionally, a Government agent that is present at the auction may accept your bid.

What is a back-up bidder?
A back-up bidder is the second highest bidder on a lot that garnered bids over $5,000. If the winning bidder is unable to pay for their lot, the back-up bidder may purchase the lot at the back-up bid price. URS will try to contact you during or after the auction if the lot becomes available. Please register with a phone number and email address where you can be easily reached. You may also ask the cashier if it is possible for you to buy the lot.

Win the Bid
How long do I have to make final payment for auction purchases?
Auction purchases of $10,000 or less require payment in full on the day of sale. Once purchases reach $10,000, an immediate deposit of $10,000 is required. Is there a buyer’s premium or other additional charges?
There is no buyer’s premium charged on auction purchases. What you bid is what you pay.

In the State of Florida, sales tax is charged on your auction purchases.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Bank wire may be used for final payment only.

Who can make payment for my purchases?
Only the registered individual can make payment for property.
If you are bidding as a business, please indicate that at registration.

What is the difference with lots offered by IRS-CI?
Lots offered for sale by IRS-CI are noted in the catalog. The IRS-CI reviews all successful bidders on IRS-CI lots that may take up to three business days. This does not change the requirements for final payment. Please call ahead before pickup to ensure that IRS-CI has approved your purchase.

Removal
How long do I have to remove my purchases?
Domestic property must be removed within 7 calendar days of the sale. Export only property must be removed within 60 calendar days of the sale. There are no extensions for removal.

Can property be removed on the same day as the auction?
Yes, once payment in full is received, release paperwork has been generated and presented to the buyer, and if the storage vendor is able to accommodate property release at that time. Removal is by appointment only. URS does not ship any items, nor does it provide any assistance in affecting removal of purchases from storage vendors. It is the sole responsibility of the buyer to remove the property purchased by the removal date. Removal is at the expense, liability, and risk of the buyer.

What must I do to pick up my property?
You must present the auction invoice and release documents provided by URS Federal Services Inc. to the storage vendor. Removal of property located at commercial vendors is by appointment only.

Can I send someone to pick up my property for me?
Yes, you can. If you opt to send a third party to pick up your purchases, you must prepare and sign an authorization letter identifying the agent on your behalf. The letter must also include a copy of your driver’s license or passport. The agent must present photo identification to validate your option to initiation of any action. In addition, they must present an original or copy of your fully paid invoice and property release documents in order for the storage vendor to release your purchases.

Bid Results
When and how can I find out bid results?
Bid results are typically posted online two weeks after the sale.

Do Your Homework
Do your homework prior to the auction. Most questions can be answered by attending the public previews and reading the "Terms and Conditions of Sale" published for each auction and also by reading the "Sale of Government General Order Property Proposed General Sale Terms and Conditions." It is highly recommended that prospective bidders familiarize themselves with these Terms and Conditions of Sale prior to bidding on any property.
